Nordic Fox 2007 Ski Trips |

Here is a tentative schedule for some of our ski trips for this winter season. As you can see we need trip leaders who are willing to help make the accommodation and transportation arrangements for the group. If you’re interested in helping out see Rita or Ron at the meeting or call or email (use our Member List for phone numbers and e-mail addresses for Rita and Ron and the trip leaders where posted).
Thanks for your support and your ideas. Any weekend that there is snow will find any number of Nordic Foxes out at Arrowhead Golf Course or the Herrick Lake trails. The park district and other skiers groom these trails if there is adequate snow. Come join the fun! |

When: 12/30/2006 Time: All day Location: Loves Creek, MI No Snow Cost: Nominal trail fee Status: Open Number of Skiers: Open Trip Leader: Jim Adams, jim@nordicfox.org Description: This is a day trip to southern Lower Michigan. About a 2-3 hour drive depending on the weather with usually good skiing. This location is in the lake effect snow belt and gets regular snowfall. |
When: 01/27/2007 Time: All day Location: Nordic Trail, South Kettle Moraine, LaGrange, WI Cost: $5 WI trail & parking fee Status: Open Number of Skiers: Open Trip Leader: Ron Ridenour, ron@nordicfox.org Description: This is a beautiful ski area just north of Lake Geneva, WI. An easy 2-hour drive puts you on a trail that is for both classic and freestyle skiers. The trail is set weekly. This trail is for beginning and intermediate skiers with some challenging terrain.

When: 01/06/2007 Time: 1PM Location: Arrowhead Golf Course No Snow Cost: Free if you have your own equipment or you can rent equipment at Arrowhead Status: Open Number of Skiers: Open Trip Leaders: Ron Ridenour, ron@nordicfox.org and Jim Adams, jim@nordicfox.org Description: Enjoy an afternoon of learning. Ron and Jim provide instruction for novice and intermediate skiers. Ski rental available at Arrowhead.

When: 02/03-02/04, 2007 Location: Greenbush, Plymouth, WI Cost: $5 WI trail & parking fee, transportation and room about $50/night Status: Open Number of Skiers: limited to 20 Trip Leader: Trip Leader Needed Contact Person: Ron Ridenour, ron@nordicfox.org Description: An easy 3 hour drive to just north of Milwaukee, WI puts you in another great ski area, the North Kettle Moraine. The skiing is for all levels. Other activities are available such as snow shoeing and ice-skatiing.

When: 01/07/2007 Time: All day Location: Rock Cut State Park, Rockford, IL No Snow Cost: Free if you have your own equipment Status: Open Number of Skiers: Open Trip Leader: Jim Adams, jim@nordicfox.org Description: This location just off of I-90 is located on the Northeast side of Rockford. The trails are usually groomed for both skating and classic. This is a beautiful location within 1-2 hours of our area.

When: 02/11-16, 2007 Time: Sunday thru Friday Location: Stokley Creek, Canada Cost: TBD. Status: Closed, but a few openings may develop if there are cancellations at the ski resort. Check here for updates!! Trip Leaders: Scott Smith, scott@nordicfox.org Description: This is one of our big trips of the season. Stokley has more than 100K of cross-country ski trails.

When: 01/13 & 14, 2007 Time: All weekend Location: Nine-Mile Forest, Wausau, WI No Snow Cost: Hotel is approximately $50/night and Trail fees are $8/day Status: Open Number of Skiers: Open Trip Leader: Ron Ridenour, ron@nordicfox.org Description: This is a great weekend trip to an excellent skiing area! The trails are groomed weekly for both classic and freestyle skiing. We’ll plan to meet at the ski area at noon on Saturday, ski the afternoon and get together Saturday night for a group dinner. Those of you who are going on to the UP will leave Sunday morning and those who are going home can ski Sunday then drive an easy 3 hours home.

When: 02/10-02/11, 2007 Location: White Lake, WI Cost: Hotel $140pp lodging only Status: Open Number of Skiers: Open Trip Leader: Trip Leader Needed Contact Person: Ron Ridenour, ron@nordicfox.org Description: This trip will be for those who are not going on the Stokley Creek trip. Join us at the Bear Paw Inn. The varying terrain will challenge skiers of all levels, with loops for novice and advanced skiers alike. It is about a 4 hour drive and is located east of Wausau, WI. |

When: 01/14-01/19, 2007 Location: Upper Peninsula, Ironwood, MI Good Snow! Cost: Approximately $200/double $250/single for X-C skiers, includes 5 nights hotel, dinner each night and trail fees. Cross-country skiing can be enjoyed at all levels. Other activities are available such as down hill skiing and night skiing. Join us for this annual event. What a great deal!!!

It is a great day trip with 24K groomed for both skating and classic. When the snow is available, it should be groomed and spectacular! The skiing is for all levels of skier. When: 02/22-02/25, 2007 Only Elite's timed over 25K course! Location: American Birkebeiner, Hayward, WI Cost: On your own Status: Open Number of Skiers: TBD Trip Leader: None Contact Name: Art Kardatzke, art@nordicfox.org or Dave Haugstad, dave@nordicfox.org Description: This is our annual trip to the North American Birkebeiner. This is a 51K ski race for intermediate and advanced skiers. There are also the 27K Kortelopet and a 10K and 12K tour for all levels of skier. Attend for the skiing, or just for the fun and cheer your favorite skier to the finish.
