If There’s Snow…We Ski!
Chicago area cross-country skiers are invited to join the Nordic Fox Ski Club and enjoy cross-country skiing in all its phases. Non-skiers, beginners, advanced, touring, racing – all welcome!
Purpose
The club’s purpose is to promote cross-country skiing and encourage skill improvement and ski safety at all levels, while having fun in a friendly atmosphere with other outdoor enthusiasts
Meetings and Educational Programs
From September to March, we hold a monthly meeting that includes a short business meeting and features an activity related program which is often skiing but may be bicycling, canoeing, traveling, etc.
Social hour begins at 7:00 pm, followed by our meeting and are held at the Emmett’s Ale House, located at 5200 Main Street in Downers Grove, IL 60515
The meetings are usually on Tuesdays of the month. Come for the social hour and a chance to meet and greet fellow skiers.
Ski Trips
During the ski season, the Club sponsors day trips, weekend trips and weeklong trips. Join us as we explore local forest preserves and parks on the weekend. No snow in Illinois? Travel with us to Southern Wisconsin, Indiana, or Lower Michigan to find snow and great skiing. We also schedule weekend trips to Nordic ski areas in the Midwest and weeklong trips to such places as Yellowstone National Park, Quebec, Banff, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Activities
In addition to ski trips, the Nordic Fox Ski Club members plan other events that help us get ready for the coming ski season: ski waxing get-togethers, dryland training, rollerskiing, ski lessons from PSIA trained ski instructors.
We also organize non-skiing activities throughout the year. In the past we’ve enjoyed a wide variety of activities: rock climbing, canoeing, camping, biking, concerts, picnics, bowling.
