LET’S SKI IN
HOUGHTON MICHIGAN
HOUGHTON MICHIGAN
In February of 2025, the Nordic Foxes will go to the Houghton area to cross-country ski. In the late 1800s, Houghton was the largest city in Michigan, upper and lower, and when Horace Greely wrote, “Go west young man, go west,” he was referring to Michigan’s copper rush which was larger and more profitable than the California gold rush. As well as its’ historical importance, the area is hilly and wooded with several nice ski areas for all skill levels. It is about an hour north of Ironwood or about 8 hours from the Chicago area.
