This trip is the most fun week for the least amount of money. The Western UP is known for early and large amounts of snow. Our favorite place to ski, ABR is one of the best cross country ski destinations in the Midwest and is famous for their impeccable trail grooming. Wolverine Trails, and others are all minutes away. Less than a two-hour drive are the Porcupine Mountain Trails, Minocqua Winter Park and the Birkie Trial System as other possible skiing destinations. Three downhill ski areas are also close by. Snowshoeing, a Stormy Kromer factory tour and shopping are alternatives too. If snow conditions are good we will ski at Nine Mile in Wausau on Saturday. Here are the details:
